The program was born out of today’s need for a goal-oriented private study which gives students, parents and teachers a time-table of reachable objectives. This timetable is based on the following:

  • That most students start lessons between ages 6 and 8 years old.
  • That by age 13, before their busy lives in high school, these students would have studied between 5 to 7 years.
  • That a five-year program which targets pianistic literacy at graduation arms students with significant skills and musically to either conclude their study or pursue more advance work during their high school years.

Phase I:        The Preparatory Level 2-1/2 yrs

Develops basic playing skills and musicianship as a literacy foundation of piano playing while specifically prepares students for readiness to learn in the sonatina level.

Phase II: The Advancing Level 1 yr

Expands skills in readiness for graduating level while honed skills and musicianship allow for easy access in intermediate repertoire.

Phase III: The Graduating Level 1-1/2 yrs

  • Repertoire performance in the level of easier classic sonata movements.
  • Skills and musicianship for independent study or sightplaying of intermediate level pieces.
  • Musicianship for improvisation on traditional harmonic progressions.
